Handle with care
Don’t let the little things let you down — paying close attention will pay off.
With so many decisions to make on home renovation or build projects, it’s tempting to cut corners by the time you get down to the finer points. Take it from us, though — if you can maintain your focus till the very end, you’ll be very glad you did.
Door handles, for instance, can be relegated to an afterthought — but, actually, they punch above their weight in terms of updating an interior and can really help a home stay relevant. Ones like these turn heads for their sophisticated shapes and materials. They’re part of the new Nido collection by Invercargill-based Windsor, the brand behind some of New Zealand’s most well-crafted architectural hardware.
Going for an industrial aesthetic? The Verge design pictured top left and above is inspired by pipe systems and features a T-bar intersection and knurled handle; as with all Nido designs, it’s configured in round rose and longplate versions. If that’s not you, consider Modella (left), which is characterised by its soft curves and oval outline. Along with the others in the Nido range, these handles are made from solid brass and come in four finishes. Take your time taking your pick.
