The latest high-end cabinet handle range developed by Windsor Hardware is bringing European flair downunder, and can be matched perfectly to existing ranges for consistency throughout the home.

At the latest design showcase in Milan at the Salone del Mobile – a design fair where the newest design directions are promoted – there was a strong theme running throughout many of the exhibits: organic shapes juxtaposed with geometric ones.

This was demonstrated, for example, through the combination of a hard marble table in a geometric shape, combined with curved, soft furnishings, and it was a thread that ran right throughout all areas of the interior design on display.

Windsor Architectural Hardware's Product Design and Development Manager Nick Baker had the fortune of attending the Salone del Mobile and said he was incredibly pleased to see that Windsor’s latest cabinet handle range is perfectly in line with what he calls a “refined, elegant industrial” aesthetic that he saw at the Milan show.

“I was there to look at a cross section of design detail to see how we could get some design continuity from the interior fitouts through to the door hardware right down to your cabinet handles,” he said. “Our latest range of cabinet handles are perfectly aligned with this new design direction.”

The inspiration for the range came from Windsor’s NIDO range, which is similar in form and comes in the same finishes and detailing.

“It's important to have that continuity from the door handles right through to your kitchen, so you can achieve the same look and feel throughout your home.”

The cabinet handle range is designed in-house and made from solid brass (rather than hollow core versions), so it’s strong enough to be used on a myriad of other applications, such as on cupboards and wardrobes, and its modern shape means it suits a range of different aesthetics from classic to contemporary.

“Its versatility means it can be used as detail throughout a home, creating unity within the different spaces,” said Nick. “It comes in three sizes – 160mm, 260mm and 360mm in length and can be installed horizontally or vertically.”

Windsor is known for its bespoke finishes, and that’s another thing that makes the range truly versatile; it comes in four standard finishes (Graphite Nickel, Brushed Nickel, Matt Satin Brass, and Matt Black, plus two hand-finished colours - Roman Brass and Dark Roman Brass.

“In addition to all of these options, the range is available embellished in two knurled options, giving it an industrial aesthetic that complements contemporary spaces.”

The original knurled finish seen in the NIDO range, diamond-knurl, is a traditional industrial look pattern which is often seen on weightlifting bars, and the new linear knurl offers a fluted detail, which has become popular across various types of hardware, furniture, vanities and island bars.

“I saw a lot of knurled detail at the Salone del Mobile and it’s the perfect industrial yet elegant look that works well with the round form of the handle to get that mix between curve and geometrical,” said Nick. “It's quite a universal aesthetic in terms of what kind of interior it can fit into.”

Nick says the cabinetry handle range was developed with exactly this in mind.

“We just wanted to have all of those details and options available so people can actually have the choice to bring everything together in their home. I always believe that the small details make a huge difference.”

The range is currently in production, with the first stock available for purchase in September.
